Access to healthcare should be a universal human right, not a privilege. An individual’s socioeconomic circumstances should not influence the access or quality of medical care they receive. Josh is committed to making sure that everyone receives the best quality healthcare, and his tenure in Congress will be no different - he will continue to fight for high quality healthcare for every resident of Long Island and Queens. Having served in local government for ten years, Josh knows that people do not want to be forced off of their private or union-provided health insurance. Rather, they want the option to select whatever care works best for themselves and their family.
In Office Josh…
- Led the charge to keep Nassau University Medical Center, the county’s only public hospital, open so that the most vulnerable retain access to quality, affordable healthcare
- Worked to expand physical and mental health services for veterans, ensuring that Nassau residents who served their country are taken care of at home
- Helped pass budgets that substantially expanded mental health outreach services and crisis intervention lines for those in need
- Wrote and secured funding for Timothy’s Law, which established a 24-hour substance abuse hotline staffed by trained substance abuse counselors
- Sponsored a bill which requires retailers to keep e-cigs and vaping products behind the counter
- Joined the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence Board of Directors
- Successfully appropriated state funds to bolster county toxicology labs, certification checks of tobacco retailers, tuberculosis elimination programs, and comprehensive health and social services for those living with HIV and AIDS
- Funded mobile breast cancer screenings
- Secured access to abortion and other reproductive health services
- Delivered tens of thousands of units of PPE to our frontline COVID-19 workers and spearheaded vaccination drives to help Nassau County return to normal
In Congress Josh Will…
- Fully support the protection and expansion of the Affordable Care Act, especially in regard to long-overdue public options
- Expand Medicare to include dental and vision coverage
- Further strengthen Medicaid to protect the most vulnerable among us
- Fight tooth and nail to increase transparency in hospital billing
- Hold pharmaceutical companies accountable for price gouging
