Access to healthcare should be a universal right and not a privilege. The socioeconomic circumstances of a certain group of people should not be able to influence the quality and access to medical care that they receive. We need to make sure everyone is receiving the best quality healthcare.

We must focus on increasing access to healthcare for those who are currently lacking coverage and lower the cost of healthcare for those who are paying far too much. And we need to lower the cost of prescription drugs by allowing Medicare and the federal government to negotiate prices with the drug companies.

But while universal healthcare is the goal, I’ve spent 10 years traveling around my community and speaking with my neighbors. People do not want to be kicked off of their private insurance where it’s good so I’m more aligned with the ideology of Secretary Buttigeg, where Medicare for all who want it is more pragmatic.
