Tonight I am absolutely disgusted

As I write this, at least 18 children and one teacher have been murdered in an elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. These were sweet, innocent 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade children. There are 18 families in Texas tonight whose child will never be coming home from school.

I am enraged, saddened, heartbroken, and my heart is with the families of the students and teacher killed.

Enough is enough. Thoughts and prayers alone without action cannot be enough. I'm more determined than ever to enact common-sense gun reform measures once I get to Congress, and to finally stand up to the heartless gun lobby that has had its grip on Washington for far too long.

Here in Nassau County, I call on Republican legislators to consider the Scott J. Biegel Gun Violence Prevention Act, which is a common-sense gun reform law that I already proposed and filed in the legislature. Scott was a teacher and a victim of the Parkland shooting who died a hero trying to save the lives of his students.

We cannot live with the status quo any more.

The town of Uvalde is scarred forever. There's no way to undo the brutal violence and senseless massacre they endured. But we can refuse to accept these tragedies, and never stop fighting for a world where our children can show up to school without fear.

More to come,

Josh
