The Cook Political report just delivered some striking news: our race has been downgraded from "Leans Democrat" to "Toss Up." In other words, this seat is going to be all the more difficult to win come November.
It's for that reason that we need your help to cement our victory in August and begin laying the groundwork for November's election now.
I'm the only sitting elected official in the race and the only one who's consistently won elections in divided districts. In fact, one of my opponents has been running for office on and off since the 80s and has lost every single time. In such a tough district, it would be foolish to nominate a Democrat with a history of losing every race they've run.
Instead, I have a proven record of winning elections by building coalitions and bringing people together from both parties who are ready for common-sense solutions to real problems. And with the GOP nominating ever-more-extreme, far-right candidates, we can't afford to lose any seats in the House and risk electing candidates with divisive partisan agendas.
In just the last couple of weeks, we've seen the dangers of radical positions on reproductive rights and on gun safety. If we want to move our country forward, we can't let the loudest and most extreme voices dominate our politics.
That's why we're building this movement to elect a leader who'll focus on common-sense policy, open-minded conversation, and who is determined to solve problems.
That's also why we will win.
More to come,
Josh
